FELLOWSHIP

“Whenever two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”    --Matthew 18:20

At First Presbyterian, we do our best to put these words of Jesus into practice, believing that as our church family gathers together, we all gain greater insight into and appreciation of God’s work in our lives.

In addition to weekly worship services and Christian Education opportunities, the “fellowship” events listed here are important ways for you to become more connected to God, to the world, and to other members of the community of faith.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT DINNERS are on the first Wednesday of every month.  The dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the cost will be $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 5-10.  Children 4 and under eat free.   Because the dinners will be only once a month, there will be no standing reservation, and once you have made a reservation, you will be responsible for payment if you cancel less than 10 days in advance.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY, while a ministry of Christian education is also an opportunity to grow closer and go deeper into the things of faith with fellow church members.  There are currently three Bible studies that you can be a part of:

• Wednesday Night Bible Study taught by Todd Hobbie, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
• Sunday Evening Kerygma Bible Study taught by Leslie Piper, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
• Thursday Morning Kerygma Book Series taught by Leslie Piper, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Our CHURCH PICNIC is held each fall.  Information on the picnic is available through “The Banner” newsletter.

SENIOR CITIZENS (over 50) meet September – May on the third Tuesday of the month for “Lunch Bunch.”  These gatherings are in Davis Hall and include lunch and a message by Ken Craig, Parish Associate.  In addition, this group takes three out-of-town trips each year.  Past destinations include, Williamsburg, Savannah, the Flat Rock Players, and Blowing Rock Stage Theater, among others.

The MEN OF THE CHURCH meet on the second Sunday of each month at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast and a brief devotion.  Gatherings are, for the most part, informal and laid back and a great opportunity to find connection and friendship.
