Sunday School is from 9:45 a.m. – 10:40 a.m., September-June.


Blanche Stewart Class
Location:  Chapel, Fellowship House
Teacher:  Jane Spainhour
Focus:  This class uses the Present Word, a Presbyterian Church (USA) curriculum that follows the uniform lesson series.

Todd Hobbie Sunday School Class
Location:  Davis Hall, Will Young Building
Teacher:   
Focus:  Taught in a lecture-oriented format, this class studies a variety of topics from Books of the Bible, to matters of theology and daily living.

S&D Class
Location:  Parlor, Fellowship House
Teachers:  Various class members
Focus:  With a full complement of coffee and doughnuts and a healthy appetite for fellowship and discussion, the class uses a variety of contemporary resources to stimulate discussion about the life of Christian faith.

Journey Class
Location:   Room 207, Education Building
Teachers:  Chris Connelly, Jay and Merritt White, Ken Craig
Focus:  Open to all adults for fellowship, study and exploration of the Bible and Christianity.  The class uses a variety of texts in exploring and discussing a wide range of topics, including literature, theology, church history, and Bible study.  Past topics have included:  The Apostle’s Creed, The Lord’s Prayer, The Book of Romans, The Dead Sea Scrolls, the prophecy of Isaiah and The Heart of Christianity.  Topics and schedules for the class are posted outside the door of the classroom.

Connections Class
Location:  Sun Room, Fellowship House
Teachers:  Ben Acton and various class members
Focus:  The class is focused both on group building among class members and on exploring scripture using a wide variety of bible-study methods.  On the 4th Sunday of every month, the class takes a look at a movie clip or TV show and discusses how that clip explores issues of faith.

Wednesday Night Bible Study, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Sunday Evening Kerygma Bible Study, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Taught by Leslie Piper

Thursday Morning Kerygma Series, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Taught by Leslie Piper

All Bible Studies meet in the Library/Conference Room, Education Building.  These groups DO NOT MEET during May – August.

History

church053THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH was founded in 1804 when the village of Concord was nine years old.  In fact the first organized congregation in Concord is believed to have been Presbyterian.
