Confirmation
Who is God? Where is God active in the world? How can I live a
faithful life?

Those are just
some the questions youth wrestle with during Confirmation, as they
seek to claim for themselves the promises made for them by their
parents and extended family.
Confirmation is a
10-12 week process that normally occurs during the 7th
grade year. In Confirmation young people and adult guides work
together to learn about the basics of faith; to develop a sense of
belonging and value in the body of Christ; and to begin to
articulate not only what they believe about God, but what those
beliefs inspire them to do with their lives.
After this time
of study and play, Confirmands write their own “Personal Statement
of Faith,” are examined by the Session, and are received into the
congregation during the 11 a.m. worship service on Pentecost Sunday.
The 2009
Confirmation Class will begin in February 2009. The links
below give some helpful information expectations for participants and parents, and roles
of adult guides. A tentative schedule of the scope, sequence, and
dates of Confirmation 2009 will be available in November.
